Before joining the Copenhagen Resource Institute, Birgitte worked as Deputy Head of Division in the department for Industry and Agriculture in the Danish Ministry of Environment. Before that, she was Deputy Head of Division in the Municipal Waste Division, in charge of the preparation of national waste management plans, EU negotiations, communication and guidance in waste legislation, contribution to LCA and environmental economic analyses within waste, taxes and subsidies. Her special fields of responsibility included the EU Directive on Packaging and Packaging Waste, management of packaging waste, recycling of packaging, management of organic waste from households and businesses.

Birgitte holds a Master of Science in Agronomics and a PhD from the Faculty of Life Science (University of Copenhagen)

Birgitte is a Danish national.
