The objective of this pilot study was to make an ex-post analysis of the effectiveness of packaging waste management systems in five selected countries in terms of fulfilling the environmental objectives specified in the packaging directive as well as national targets, if any such targets have been set. In addition to information on the actual performance of the national packaging waste management system information on the institutional structure was retrieved.
